MING LIU
B i o g r a p h y
Ming Liu was born in Beijing and started to play the piano at the age of three. She started giving concerts from the age of ten and performed numerous times at her home city. After having success in many competitions, she came to England when she was sixteen to study at Westbuckland School in North Devon and also at the Royal College of Music Junior department with professor John Barstow. During this time she gave many concerts in Devon and London including in the Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe, Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple, and Holy Trinity Church in London. In summer 2006 she performed the Finzi 'Eclogue' with the North Devon Orchestra.
In 2006, She was accepted into Royal College of Music with scholarship to study with professor Nigel Clayton, with whom she continued to study for her Masters degree. During this time, she was successful in competitions including 1st prize in Brighton Springboard Music Festival Concerto Class 2012, 2nd prize in Coulsdon and Purley Festival Concerto Class in 2012 and 2011, and highly commended in Hastings International Piano Competition in 2010. In 2013 She performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Brighton Youth Orchestra.
As well as solo performance, Ming is also an experienced chamber musician and accompanist, playing music of many different styles including pop song accompaniment and being part of a jazz quartet. She has also provided light jazz and pop classical in many hotels and wedding receptions.
